New Level of Certification for Kelly Ravner!
Kelly Ravner recently completed the NST Deep Cures Workshop in Seattle, WA
(August 20-22, 2010) and has been awarded a new level of certification.  She is now a Certified Advanced Practitioner of NST (Neurostructural Integration Technique) style Bowen Bodywork - the highest level of certification available for a practitioner.  The workshop was great - covering new techniques to help the small percentage of clients who don't respond well to regular Bowen treatments, or who get better for a short time only to have their pain return after a few days.  The new strategies include ways to identify nutritional and deep emotional blockages to healing, and treatments include painless laser treatment of ear acupuncture points and use of cranial-sacral style contacts to release blockages.

How to get the best results with Bowen Bodywork

People often ask how many treatments they will need, or they are disappointed that they aren't healed after one or two treatments.  While Bowen Bodywork is a powerful healing tool, it is helpful to have reasonable expectations about results and to consider your goals when seeking treatment.  If you have had pain, injuries or structural imbalances for a long time, it will usually take some time and a series of treatments to reverse these conditions.  Also, it is useful to be clear about the results you expect - are you just seeking a reduction in your immediate pain or symptoms, or do you wish to correct the underlying imbalance that is causing your symptoms?  Regardless of the healing method you choose, correcting the root cause usually takes more time and commitment - but the results can be extremely worthwhile!  If you are trying to get in shape or save for retirement, you expect to have

to work out or invest your money over an extended period of time.  Plan to invest the

same kind of energy in your healing, and you will be well rewarded!  Everyone heals at

their own pace, but a good rule of thumb is to expect about a week of treatment for

every year since the beginning of your original pain or injury.

I recommend trying at least four Bowen treatments, spaced about 1 week apart, to see if Bowen therapy will work for you.  With Bowen, some people experience immediate improvement, but many people notice little change with the first couple of treatments - then the changes begin to show up and accelerate, often after 3 or 4 treatments.  (Keep in mind that everyone responds at their own pace, in accordance with the severity of their condition and their individual ability to heal - which may be affected by nutritional status, hydration, emotional or physical stress and other factors.)  After a few weekly treatments, it is good to re-evaluate and adjust treatment schedules to meet your needs and goals.
